Gossip Girls toast YSL Beauté at Henri Bendel
S.W.A.K.
The clothes are impeccable and the décor alluring, but this time it was the cast that drew throngs to Henri Bendel. On Sunday night, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and the iconic retailer hosted a party to celebrate Gossip Girl and costume designer Eric Daman, who designed the store's current window display. With brown and white striped shopping bags appearing in almost every episode, Henri Bendel seems to play a starring role, a placement not lost on the crush of adoring fans who convened on Fifth Avenue.
One teen locked herself in a bathroom stall earlier in the day in the hopes that no one would realize she was there. Her plan was to bust out during the party...but unfortunately, she got caught. Other fans weren't as inventive, but poured on the tears in an effort to guilt-trip the doormen. It worked for a lucky few who made it inside and snapped photos with the stars.
Samples of the new YSL Rougue Volupté seductive lip collection lined hors d'oeuvres trays, forcing guests to pucker up. Leighton Meester sealed boyfriend Sebastian Stan with kisses, breaking only to reapply her YSL gloss. "We're all exhausted," she said. "We literally got back to the city a few hours ago and pulled ourselves together, but this was so much fun." Taylor Momsen sported an edgier look than usual. "Tonight, they let me dress myself and I wanted leather biker chic," she commented. Momsen also shot the cover of CosmoGirl!'s prom issue. "The whole cast took over a motel out there this summer and it was basically like one giant sleepover," said Momsen, who insisted we try the mini cones of sorbet. "The grapefruit is delicious," she said, nibbling on a lip-shaped cookie.
Standing in the center of the iconic department store, Kelly Rutherford remembered her first time. "I love this place," she reminisced. "I have been shopping here since I was a teenager. I remember coming when I was 17 and buying a brown and white striped makeup case; I saved it for a really long time."
As the cosmetics floor cleared out and the last of the hysterical fans collected goody bags, Matthew Settle, who plays the charming Rufus Humphrey, took to the dance floor in what was truly a New York moment. As Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" serenaded guests, Settle dipped and twirled his wife Naama Nativ in the empty rotunda. Lingering publicists swooned. You know you love him...XOXO!
