First Annual Governors Island Art Fair Posted: 20 Sep 2008 09:00 AM CDT There's no better way to spend a nice fall weekend then romping around Governor's Island. The ferry is free, the admission is free, and you get a great view of my favorite of all the Waterfalls. Plus, all this month you get to check out the 4heads Collective's First Annual Governors Island Art Fair. "Sound installation, outdoor sculpture, and portraits created on site are just a few of the artistic items of interest awaiting visitors" tot this fair organized entirely by artists. Over 40 of New York City's best independent artists unite on the island for the affair, showcasing hundreds of new works. Full details here. TheBrooklyn Country Fair returns today to provide a welcome escape from the New York hustle with Tye Dying, Pie Eating Contests, Free Apples, Food from Park Slope restaurants (not free), and live music from Balthrop, Alabama, The Birdhive Boys, and Rocketship Park. New York needs more impromptu street circuses (is that the plural of circus?)...
