Solar One Needs Your Help- Citysol 2009
Dear friends,

It's the 4th of July weekend, and this year, that means 1 week to our annual Citysol Sustainability Festival. This year's Citysol will be a 3-day extravaganza of music, visual art, crafts, workshops, kids' activities and performance art, plus DJs, Party for a Solar-Powered NY, and so on- July 10-12. The opening night party starts Fri at 6 and goes till 10, on Saturday the hours are 12-10pm and on Sun 11am-6pm.

As always, we're aiming for a zero-waste event and we're hoping lots of people will come, so naturally we need lots of volunteers to help us pull this off. If you're free and would like to volunteer during Citysol, please email me at dina@solar1.org to let me know what day and time works for you. I promise we will have fun and maybe there will even be some kind of special gift for those who want to help out. Below is the Citysol roster, it'll give you an idea of what's going on over the weekend:

Fri: The Alien Comic, Moonshine Shorey and DJs from HomeBase Collective. Party for a Solar-Powered NY- Solar Racecar Design Competition, Solar Mobile Chargers, letter writing.

Sat: Live Music with Dead Prez, Fiasco, Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers, Schwervon!, Outasight, So So Glos, Hi Red Center and Love Like Deloreans.

Sun: Rachel Trachtenburg's Homemade World, workshops with Band of Bicycles, Madagascar Institute, BioBus Mobile Science Lab, Just Food, Voltaic and possibly more. And finally, an Eco-Pet Fashion Show hosted by performance elf Reverend Jen.

It should be a fun and funky time for all. I hope you can all join us!

If you're not free next weekend but might be interested in hanging posters, handing out flyers and/or helping us build some cool display stuff, let me know that too (and add a note about the level of your carpentry skills).

Have a great holiday weekend,
Dina
