Ivana Salander
November 11, 2009-December 6, 2009
Opening Reception: Tuesday November 10, 7-10pm
Cameo Art Gallery 93 N 6th Street, Brooklyn New York.
Gallery Hours are Wednesday-Saturday 12pm-6pm, or by appointment 718-302-1180.
Recorded Music by Natalie Rose LeBrecht followed with a live
performance by The London Souls.

Cameo gallery is pleased to present a solo show of works by Ivana
Salander. After Yupo is a series of paintings, completed over the
summer of 2009, initially inspired by the transparent and silky
qualities of Yupo paper. What transpired was a Zen involvement with
the material, wood and paint, and the nature in which the work was
created. The paintings are silky sensual compositions of wild flowers
on 2 x 5 feet planks of raw wood. There is a juxtaposition of the
feminine quality of the silky paint against the rough and raw wood
that brings a provocative tension to the work. As well, the work
evokes the whimsical nature of summer and youth as well as the
ethereal beauty of nature.
