A woman living in the Paris suburbs struggles with a loveless marriage and apathy toward her family and friends, spending her days quietly wandering about her house. Austrian playwright and novelist Peter Handke wrote screenplays for a number of films directed by Wim Wenders (including WINGS OF DESIRE). Here, Wenders acts as producer while Handke provides both the scenario – an adaptation of his novel of the same name – and direction. (Part of the ACFNY-Anthology series 'Austrian Writers on Film')
