The 8th Annual International Pickle Day

Pickle Day will feature music, cooking and home canning demonstrations, children's activities, neighborhood walking tours and of course pickle samples! Street Art, Street Life: From the 1950s to Now

FreeNYC Event Image"Organized by guest curator Lydia Yee, Street Art, Street Life examines the street as subject matter, venue, and source of inspiration for artists and photographers from the late 1950s to the present. This far ranging exhibition, one of the largest to consider the subject, includes street photography; documentation of performance, events, and artworks presented in the street; works using material from the street; and examples of street culture by more than thirty artists including William Klein, Lee Friedlander, Raymond Hains, Vito Acconci, Martha Rosler, Sophie Calle, David Hammons, Jamel Shabazz, and Francis Alÿs, among others." To celebrate the opening at the Bronx Museum today there will a giant street party in front of the Museum with DJs, break dancers, family activities, as well as a market of local artisans. NYC's Best Short Films at 3rd Ward

FreeNYC Event ImageEvery 2nd Sunday beginning this evening, 3rd Ward will bring you this free screening series with the very best in local filmmaking. Today will feature Matthew Lessner's Darling Darling, starring our favorite awkward teen from Juno and Arrested Development, Michael Cera, Astronauts Visit New York by Joanne Getson and Carmen by Leat Klingman, Re'ut Ben-Ze'ev, and Claudia La Rocco. This will be a night of cinematic oddities, strange encounters and video performance. The doors open at 7 pm and the films screen at 8 pm.
