TUESDAY FEB 17, 7:30 PM CONCERT | MOSTLY CONTEMPORARY LIDIA BAICH, VIOLIN Lidia Baich was born in St. Petersburg, her mother from a family of wellknown Russian musicians, her father a cellist from Austria. She began to study the violin at the age of four. In 1998, Baich won the Grand Prix d'Eurovision with an outstanding performance of the 5th concerto by Vieuxtemps. Lord Yehudi Menuhin, head of the international Jury, presented her with the title of "European Musician of the Year." She has since performed at the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Warsaw, Moscow and St. Petersburg Philharmonics, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as in Prague, Munich, Rome, Milano, and many other European cities. Various concert tours have take her to Japan, China, Corea, Israel, South Africa, Argentina and Brasil. In 2008 Universal Music released her latest CD "Violinkonzerte".
