KLANGFORUM WIEN Klangforum Wien, photo by Claudia Prieler This arguably most important chamber ensemble from Austria is performing a wide repertoire of cutting edge compositions within the framework of an ACFNY art/concert residency today, April 6th and tomorrow, April 7th. KLANGFORUM WIEN was founded in 1985 by Beat Furrer as an ensemble of soloists committed to the performance of contemporary music, with a democratic philosophy, where co-operation between performers, conductors and composers is both encouraged and nurtured and replaces the more traditional, hierarchical structure found in much musical practice. KLANGFORUM WIEN performs worldwide with over 80 performances each season, with focal points in the important European music centers as well as in the USA and Japan. Another mainstay of the ensemble's work is their annual programmmatically ambitious series of concerts at the Vienna Konzerthaus. The program and residency at the ACFNY is curated by Sven Hartberger.
